"That is a cute style that could have created a better look with the addition of a few more details. First, the jacket is too long which takes away from the crop design and also makes the person seem short. Also, the buttons are too small which gives a perception of having too much fabric. Visible vertical dart lines on the front and back would also have given a longer and chic look."

We spent some time getting to know Toccara a little better so read our short interview to find out what she had to say:

Do you have aspirations to become a model? If so, what or who inspired you to want to pursue this?
Yes, I do have apirations to be a model. I have always wanted to be a model ever since I was a little girl, but really did not have the guts to pursue it until I started doing research on Full Figured Modeling. Chenese Lewis really inspires me because whatever obstacle she faced in the fashion instustry, she overcame it. Another model that really inspires me is Mia Amber. She has such great poise and confidence in front of the camera.
What are some activities you enjoy (besides shopping for the latest trends!)?
Besides shopping I go to school for Opera performance. I really love classical music. It relaxes me.
Who or what inspires you in life?
My mother inspires me in everything I do. She has such a strong spirit and has overcome everything that life has thrown her way. She inspires me to keep working toward my dreams no matter what.
Describe your fashion style. What colors do you wear most?
I really love the colors black and turquoise. The trends that I am loving right now are the gladiator sandals and sundresses. They are really cute.
Who's your fashion icon?
Jennifer Hudson is my fashion icon. She really has mastered the art of dressing with her curves.

Thanks for your time, Toccara! Enjoy your new Missphit tops!

Photo Prize Winner
for December/January
Scarlett Estrella
from Fairfax, VA!
Photos submitted by the Photo Prize Winner for December 08/January 09
"I think this lady is breaking many fashion mistakes, but the number one mistake is choosing a top which gives her body and chest no support whatsoever. I also think this top is way too big for her, you can see the back of the top just hanging there, whereas it should be tightly snug to her back."
—Sarah Testa, judge
"This shirt is cute but looks too big, she needs something that shows off her curves better!"

Here's Scarlett made over in Missphit's Cotton Corset and Flower Diva. The styles show off her great shape much better - Scarlett, why have you been hiding them curves!

We spent some time getting to know Scarlett a little better so read our short interview to find out what she had to say:

Do you have aspirations to become a model? If so, what or who inspired you to want to pursue this?
Yes, I have always wanted to pursue a career in modeling. When I was in high school my mother enrolled me in John Casablanca's, it was an amazing experience. Crystal Renn has always encouraged me, her story is truly inspirational. She is a prime example that beauty comes in all different shapes, colors and sizes.
What are some activities you enjoy (besides shopping for the latest trends!)?
I love music; it has always played a huge part in my life. I love dancing, watching movies, reading, going out with my friends; you know the usual girlie stuff.
Who or what inspires you in life?
My mother, she is always behind me pushing me to do better, try harder and follow my dreams. She has always told me, "It doesn't matter what it is you do in life, as long as you are happy and do it to the best of your ability."
Describe your fashion style. What colors do you wear most?
It depends, if it is spring or summer I tend to wear solid colorful tops with dark denim bermuda shorts but in the fall or winter I stick to dark colors mostly grays, brown and blacks.
Who's your fashion icon?
I would have to say, Beyonce. She has a superb sense of style and knows what looks good on her curvy body. I love how she can look both classy and chic and turn around and look hip and urban.

Thanks for your time, Scarlett! Enjoy your new Missphit tops!

Photo Prize Winner
for October/November
Melissa Gibson
from Edgewood, MD!

"I think this lady is making the most common mistakes plus size women make - they just settle from something too big, which ends up making them look like a tent. Just because you are a big girl, you do not need to choose clothes that are too big for you! You need to choose clothes that fit and flatter your figure. Another fashion no no, horizontal stripes, which are not very flattering."

We spent some time getting to know Melissa a little better so read our short interview to find out what she had to say:

Do you have aspirations to become a model? If so, what or who inspired you to want to pursue this?
I would love to be a model but I always assumed that I didn't have "the look!" With so many more plus size models on the scene lately I have really been considering this as an option!
What are some activities you enjoy (besides shopping for the latest trends!)?
I enjoy spending time with my family and modifying my car! I really enjoy showing my car at car shows and race events!
Who or what inspires you in life?
My family and friends are definitely the people that inspire me. They have taught me to work hard for the things that you want and you will be successful.
Describe your fashion style. What colors do you wear most?
My fashion style varies a lot! When I'm going out I dress pretty sexy, usually in heels and low cut tops. When I go to work I still like to look cute but aim more for comfort. I wear a lot of dark colors but I also like to wear lots of red, yellow and green too.
Who's your fashion icon?
Emme

Thanks for your time, Melissa! Enjoy your new Missphit tops!

Photo Prize Winner
for August/September
Kimberly Nesmith
from Colombia, SC!

"In my opinon this is the worst fit. The shirt is obviously too small and is showing her love handles and back rolls."
—Chenese Lewis, judge
"This top is way too short even though it seems to fit okay on top near the shoulders and arms. The empire line is too high and looks uncomfortable and those slits on the side should be way below the waist and not showing them!"
—Christina Kwon, judge

Here's Kimberly made over in Missphit's Tunic Chic and Zig-Zag Tunic. She looks much more comfortable now and definitely ready for that photo shoot!

We spent some time getting to know Kimberly a little better so read our short interview to find out what she had to say:

Do you have aspirations to become a model? If so, what or who inspired you to want to pursue this?
I do have aspirations of becoming a model. For as long as I can remember, I have always loved to be in front of the camera. There are big disparities in the representation of the "average sized woman" in the media. Seeing how the plus size model has taken her place in the industry has really inspired me to be a part of the movement.
What are some activities you enjoy (besides shopping for the latest trends!)?
Spending time with family, friends and sorority sisters. I also enjoy fishing, catching crabs, singing, scrapbooking and painting crafts.
Who or what inspires you in life?
My parents and my faith keep me inspired to always put my best foot forward.
Describe your fashion style. What colors do you wear most?
"Subtly Sexy" best describes my fashion style. I never reveal too much, and I show just enough. The colors I wear most are yellow, pink, green, black, and red.
Who's your fashion icon?
Tyra Banks

Thanks for your time, Kimberly! Enjoy your new Missphit tops!
